One day trip to Bratislava

Hi everyone! It has been a while since we have posted, but here is a post about Bratislava, the capital of Slovakia. During this summer, I decided to visit Central Europe instead of the usual Western Europe. The reason behind this is simply because I wanted to explore the more quiet, relaxing side of Europe that is rich in historical monuments and pretty castles. Since Bratislava looked pretty tiny on the map, I decided that staying one entire day would be sufficient to discover most parts of the city. Therefore, I arrived in Bratislava in the morning and stayed a night there before leaving to Budapest the next morning. For starters, Google Maps and Apple Maps didn't provide any information...

Must-try desserts in China

When it comes to finding yummy sweets and desserts in China, my inner self would nod yes and say just take it because I will not find it back in the Netherlands (unless I am desperate enough to want the packaged powdered ones and make it myself). The most popular Chinese desserts actually come from Guangdong and there are many variations that can be served hot or cold. During my times in China, I made sure I visited enough dessert shops such as Hui Lau Shan, Honeymoon Desserts and others :). I have compiled my top 8 Chinese desserts since sharing is caring and you might end up liking them as much as I do ?. 1. 西米露 Xī mǐ lù...

The Goobne Chicken in Hong Kong

We were on a food hunting mission to find something tasty and filling before heading out to Repulse Bay for the beach, and we came across Goobne Chicken on the Openrice app (the food app in Hong Kong). The app and reviews described this place's chickens as "non-fried and healthy chicken pieces marinated with seven kinds of spices” so how could we resist tasty yet healthy food if it is here! The restaurant was pretty easy to find despite it was on the second floor. We  didn't have to circle around in the neighborhood much before we could find it as there was a giant sign stating 'GOOBNE CHICKEN' on that building. When we walked in, we took notice of the...

Sun Yat-Sen University in Guangzhou

A Tier-One city in China, Guangzhou is therefore one of the most developed and affluent Chinese cities in the South. Guangzhou was a city that was not unknown to me, as I have been here several times before my exchange started at Lingnan College, Sun Yat-sen University (SYSU). I started my exchange officially on 29th of August and yet in less than three months I packed my suitcase and bid good bye to my lovely exchange university on 25th of November. Yeah, quite early right? All my classes only lasted for thirteen weeks, so there is still a lot of weeks left to travel around China before the next trimester starts ?. Lingnan Hall SYSU was founded by Sun Yat-Sen, the revolutionary founder...

Three Days in Hangzhou

The capital of Zhejiang province, and the city in which the G20 summit of 2016 took place is no other than Hangzhou. Despite that it wasn’t crowded at all during the weeks before the G20 took place, the government evidently had spent lots of efforts decorating the city with LED light strips hanging on the trees and such. Later on, we heard from others that the reason for why the city was quite empty the weeks before the G20 was because the government wanted to ensure a perfect G20 so they ordered the inhabitants to have a holiday while also giving them coupons to travel around the Zhejiang province. That’s why we were quite astonished by how little the traffic...

London, a dream city

Since young, I have always had London stowed in a special place in my heart because it was my dream city. To me, it has always been a place that looks effortlessly magical and filled with stories that are waiting to be told. Each time I stumbled across a literature or fictional book with the setting in England, I immediately dived into the storyline while noticing the lines that describe every single detail of the surrounding, picturing in my mind how it would actually look back in history. That was how strong my enthusiasm for England was in general, I was looking forward to the day when I will set my foot onto this land filled with magic and youthful...

Insanitea, anyone?

The sun is shining brighter than ever and the temperature is slowly increasing, thus we can finally say summer is here! We thought we will share with you a location in Rotterdam where we hang out very often, that is YoYo! Fresh Tea Bar. YoYo has three locations in Rotterdam, one nearby the Central Station, one at Rodezand (close to where V&D used to be), and one in the Markthal. Besides Rotterdam, they also have locations in Amsterdam, The Hague and even South-Korea! What is so special about YoYo? BUBBLE TEA. Do I need to say more? Besides that they sell my favourite drink, their stores always have a nice atmosphere. Their cute interior makes it the perfect place to sit down...
